Les piste noire des Aillons (quand elle sont ouverte) : des murs, de vrai piste noire !

Am I giving away a secret by adding a comment in English? This small station is friendly and the upper station (Margeriaz) has a fine selection of well planned pistes for the beginning to intermediate skier plus a handful of blacks and reds.. It's not big on nightlife or hotels (there's none) but is very popular with French skiers, particularly from the Chambery area. Prices are very reasonable. You'd better be able to speak some French, or at least understand well, as the station serves a local clientele so isn't multilingual. What you will get is varied pistes (not ski motorways); I strongly suggest you check out Les Coqs, which is an exciting and interesting blue run that snakes through the woodlands. While at the top of Les Coqs, seek out the Bergerie for good food and drink. Margeriaz is family friendly (Wednesdays in term time are full of local children doing their classe neige) and a good place to develop your ski skills without being menaced by out of control hoorays.

Une petite station village très adaptée aux vacances en famille. Les prix sont très abordables et un choix intéressant d'hébergements. A noter, le grand nombre d'animations axées vers la famille. Station à recommander !
