The ANMSM (Association Nationale des Maires des Stations de Montagne – National Association of Mayors of Mountain Resorts) lists the different styles of resorts in France. Of these, 37 resorts are currently classified as “Nordic sites”.

What is a Nordic area?
These specialised cross-country ski areas offergroomed and groomedtrails, sometimes panoramic, sometimes in the forest, or on large plateaux in terms of length of grooming, including trails for skating and cross-country skiing. They also offer a wide variety of Nordic activities such as dog sledding and snowshoeing, which, like cross-country skiing, can be supervised for beginners and advanced skiers. Nordic receptionists and first-aid workers provide a link between the ski area and the various clienteles.
