Eco-design

France MONTAGNES is committed to an eco-design approach for its website www.france-montagnes.com in order to reduce its environmental impact.

As part of this process, the Communications Department has appointed Blandine THENET, a consultant who has been made aware of the challenges of responsible digital use.

In order to draw up an initial inventory and define areas for improvement, an audit will shortly be carried out to reveal whether the site is fully or partially compliant with the General Ecodesign Standard for Digital Services (RGESN ) – Version 2 of 2805/2024.

What is the General Ecodesign Framework?

Recommended in the report on software obsolescence that the Government submitted to Parliament in June 2021, the General Ecodesign Framework for Digital Services is a commitment of the Government’s “Digital and the Environment” roadmap published in February 2021. Led by the Interministerial Digital Directorate (DINUM), the Ministry of Ecological Transition, but also ADEME and the Institut du Numérique Responsable (INR), this reference framework has two main objectives:

  • To combat the obsolescence of user, network and server equipment
  • Reduce the consumption of IT and energy resources

Strategy and objectives for reducing or limiting environmental impact

The main challenge is to ensure that this website functions on the oldest possible terminals and in a variety of connectivity conditions:

  • Work on the UX (user experience) by offering different ways of accessing content: via quick access or via a search engine.
  • Browsing as intuitively as possible to reduce the time spent finding information
  • Maximum number of server requests per screen: 30
  • Maximum resource weight per screen: 600 Kb
  • All content can be consulted at least on mobile phones. The site adapts to all screen sizes
  • Maximum compression of images and videos
  • Text alternative to videos
  • Manual deletion of obsolete content: news, diary, etc.
