FRANCE MONTAGNES
Working together to raise the profile of France's mountain resorts!
France Montagnes is the organisation for France’s mountain resorts, whose mission is to promote and enhance a responsible tourism economy, both in winter through skiing and in summer through all the activities that take place there.
France Montagnes aims to raise the profile of French mountain resorts in France and abroad.
With its emblematic slogan “La Montagne, ça vous gagne!” and “The Mountains of France” internationally, France Montagnes invites you to explore and discover the mountains in all their facets, winter and summer, through multi-channel communication campaigns, digital and events.
The history of France Montagnes
France Montagnes is an association born of the common desire of three major players in mountain tourism in France, who have joined forces to promote mountain destinations throughout the year:
The National Association of Mayors of Mountain Resorts (ANMSM):
This association brings together nearly a hundred mountain resorts in five French massifs (Northern and Southern Alps, Jura, Massif Central, Pyrenees and Vosges). It uses its expertise to work with the public authorities to promote the specific characteristics of these high-altitude communities in relation to strategic tourism-related issues. It also provides personalised support to local authorities and develops operational programmes to enhance their appeal, such as sustainable development initiatives with Cimes Durables, the roll-out of the “Famille Plus” label and prevention and safety on the slopes.
Domaines Skiables de France (DSF):
A trade association for ski area operators, it federates and represents ski lift operators. It plays a key role in :
- In the social field, it negotiates the collective agreement with the employee unions.
- In the technical and safety field, it is the contact for the public authorities.
- In the economic, legal and environmental fields, it advises and makes proposals.
- Supporting its members in regional development in partnership with local authorities under the authority of mayors.
Syndicat National des Moniteurs du Ski Français (SNMSF):
Bringing together 17,000 qualified instructors, the union’s aim is to bring together French ski instructors (“the red jumpers”) teaching in France or abroad, to structure the 220 ski schools corporately, to organise the profession and ensure its defence, both from the point of view of its general interests and its specific features and ethics. esf instructors are truly mountain people, passionate about their work and driven by the same values: respect for the mountains, a love of technique through learning, pleasure and conviviality.
These three entities joined forces with the ambition of creating a common body responsible for promoting the mountains in all their diversity, whether in winter for board sports or in summer for nature activities. This collaboration gave birth to France Montagnes in 2010.
