As every year, the routes of the Tour de France and the Tour de France Women include mountain stages, and pass through many of France’s mountain resorts! If you love cheering on the cyclistsalong the Tour routes, this is the perfect opportunity to combine it with a mountain break this summer! Where and when? We explain!
Men’s Tour de France: almost 12 resorts crossed!
For the 2025 edition, the riders of the Tour de France will once again have to climb themost emblematic mountain passes.The atmosphere created by the Tour de France is a unique opportunity to enjoy some great moments in the mountains during the summer, between sports, festivities and a return to peace and quiet once the Tour is over. To help you choose your destination, here’s where the Tour and its unmissable caravan will be passing through this summer:
Stage 10: Monday 14/07/2025: Ennezat > Le Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy
On Monday 14 July 2025, the Tour will set off through some demanding terrain, with a special highlight as it approaches the resort of Le Mont-Dore. Located in the volcanic massif of Sancy, this station is more than just a waypoint: it is a welcome stopover where mountains, forests and clearings meet.

Stage 13: Friday 18/07/2025: Loudenvielle > Peyragudes
The 13ᵉ stage of the Tour de France 2025 promises to be a high point between mountain and challenge: the riders set off into the heart of the Pyrenees for the unmissable time trial, which will finish at the resort of Peyragudes. Nestling at an altitude of 1,600 m, this Pyrenean destination combines legendary mountain passes with breathtaking views.
The public will be able to cheer on the cyclists while enjoying the postcard-perfect scenery. In summer, Peyragudes becomes a multi-faceted destination: hiking, mountain biking or lounging on the terraces, all with a bucolic feel.
Stage 14: Saturday 19/07/2025: Pau > Luchon-Superbagnères
Still in the Pyrenees, this stage promises to be spectacular: after taming several Pyrenean passes, the riders climb the bends leading to the Grand Tourmalet resort. Situated just a stone’s throw from the pass of the same name, it offers an imposing backdrop at an altitude of 2,115 m, immersing spectators in an authentic atmosphere.
In summer, the Grand Tourmalet becomes a paradise for nature lovers. One of the must-do activities is downhill mountain biking on its trails, which appeal to sports enthusiasts and families alike, with routes to suit all levels. Thrills guaranteed in a green and refreshing setting.
Stage 18: Thursday 24/07/2025: Vif > Courchevel Col de la Loze
The 18ᵉ stage of the Tour de France 2025, on 24 July, offers a 171km route between Vif (Isère) and the Col de la Loze, in Courchevel, after an impressive 5,500m of cumulative ascent! The peloton will set off from the Grenoble valley, cross the Oisans and then climb three Alpine giants: the Col du Glandon (21.7km at 5.1%), the Col de la Madeleine (19.2km at 7.9%) and the final 26km climb at 6.5% to the summit of the Col de la Loze.
To make the most of this queen stage of the 2025 Tour de France, you can stay in a number of Savoyard resorts that will see the caravan and the riders pass through:

Stage 19: Friday 25/07/2025: Albertville > La Plagne
The 19ᵉ stage, which takes place on 25 July 2025, links Albertville to La Plagne over around 130 km, with 4,500 m of positive ascent. This short but intense stage is the final confrontation on mountain roads before the final stages. It offers climbers the chance to make decisive inroads, while spectators enjoy the scenery, ideal in summer for combining a passion for cycling with the splendour of the mountains.
This final stage, which finishes in the heart of the Tarentaise at La Plagne, will also pass through 4 other resorts that are great places to stay in summer:
- Arêches-Beaufort: in the heart of the Beaufortain, this resort has an authentic Savoyard feel and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Women’s Tour de France : 7 resorts in the Alps
With a complete crossing of France from west to east, the route of the 2025 Tour de France Women will finish in the Alps with 2 demanding mountain stages. To enjoy this sporting spectacle and take part in this unique atmosphere, here’s how to choose your destination:
Stage 8: Saturday 02/08/2025: Chambéry > Saint-François-Longchamp
The 8ᵉ stage of the Tour de France Femmes 2025, on 2 August, sets off from Chambéry to reach Saint-François-Longchamp, with the ascent of the mythical Col de la Madeleine, after 112 km and 3,490 m of positive ascent, the queen stage of this edition! The route puts the riders through their paces from the Col de Plainpalais and Col du Frêne onwards, culminating in an arduous finish at Saint-François-Longchamp, a lively Savoyard resort in summer and particularly family-friendly, ideal for extending your stay after the race.
The winning combo? If you’re staying between 24 July and 2 August, you’ll be able to see the two competitions pass within a few days of each other, guaranteeing a unique atmosphere in the resort!
Stage 9: Sunday 03/08/2025: Praz-sur-Arly > Chatel
The final stage will start in Praz-sur-Arly and finish in Chatel (Portes du Soleil), on a demanding 124km route punctuated by four major climbs. After the dreaded Col de Joux-Plane, the racers plunge at high speed towards Morzine, crossing its centre before attacking the Col du Corbier. Earlier in the stage, the peloton also passed through Combloux, nestling at the foot of the Mont-Blanc massif, providing a magnificent backdrop for the spectators who had come to cheer them on.
This 100% Haute-Savoie finale combines legendary mountain passes and typical Alpine village resorts: Combloux, with its panoramic views of Mont-Blanc, and Morzine, a lively and festive town in summer, are the perfect backdrop for this key stage!
This stage, rich in mountain diversity, will also pass through the resorts of Megève, Morillon and Samoëns.
