3 great ways to keep your child busy in resorts this summer

It’s decided, this summer your family holiday is in the mountains. A great idea! But like every parent, you may be wondering whether your child will getbored and a bit grumpy… The answer is no, because the resorts have thought of everything to keep them occupied.

1. The kids’ club, the ideal place to make new friends!

We all know that children need to be kept busy all the time, especially when they’re in top form on holiday. And just as well, the mountains are an endless playground for introducing them to new activities. And what could be better than sharing them with children of the same age?

In the resorts, children’s clubs can be a real ally for families. Offered by certain holiday residences (handy, it’s integrated directly into your holiday accommodation!), by the local nursery or even in the form of travelling clubs in the great outdoors, they allow the youngest children to enjoy activities adapted to their age while discovering the mountains in a fun way.

Outdoor games, creative workshops, sporting challenges in the form of mini Olympics, wildlife discovery or treasure hunts: there’s no shortage of activities to keep children occupied throughout the day. Meanwhile, parents can relax for a few hours, go hiking or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the summits. It’s the ideal way to combine a family holiday with special time for everyone!

2. Discovering the mountains with those who know them by heart

Everyone knows the esf instructors and their mythical red outfits on the slopes in winter. But in summer, they’re just as present in the resorts, to the delight of your children!

Because the instructors know their area like the back of their hand and are real ambassadors for it, the esf has launched “Mon Aventure Montagne”, an educational programme available throughout the summer that lets you discover the mountains through sporting and fun activities.

In the form of full-day or half-day courses, children (divided into groups according to their age) learn about good practice in the mountains, so they can enjoy it while respecting it and preserving the environment.

The courses vary according to the participating resorts, but all have a theme and a common thread to help youngsters learn about the mountains in a fun way.

A winning combination for discovering the mountains while having fun and learning!

3. Themed walks, so you don’t feel the time fly by

Hiking is a must-do summer activity, but it can sometimes become complicated when the youngest ones drag their feet and ask every 10 minutes “when are we coming?

But the best thing to do is to take them for a walk on a suitable path with games or other activities, where you can be sure they won’t be counting their steps.

To get children interested in hiking, many resorts are focusing on fun, themed trails. Sensory trails, storytelling walks, routes punctuated with riddles or routes to be completed with a booklet-game: everything is designed to turn walking into a little adventure. These walks help to keep the young ones motivated while discovering nature, mountain animals and local legends in an interactive way. Some resorts even offer mobile applications or trails inspired by treasure hunts to make the experience even more immersive.

It’s a great way to share a family activity while enjoying the summer mountain scenery. And surprise, sometimes a little gift awaits the children at the resort’s Tourist Office on their return from the walk… all the more reason to motivate them!
