With family
Snowshoeing with children: it's possible!
Why not try out a new activity with the whole family? In many Famille Plus resorts, there are trails suitable for children (sometimes as young as 3) to try their hand at snowshoeing! These are short, easy walks for the whole family to enjoy in the heart of the snow-covered fir trees. The little extra: they often include a fun trail to motivate the youngest.
A brand new, fun and easily accessible path at Peyragudes
This winter, the Pyrenees resort of Peyragudes is offering a brand new footpath, ideal for children and their families. The 800-metre-long forest trail takes less than 20 minutes to complete, with a fun and educational experience to follow along the way.
Perfectly suited to children aged 3 and over, it can be completed with snowshoes, available for hire from the Maison de Peyragudes. And because the resort has thought of everything for the little ones, you can return by electric shuttle, and babies are welcome too: you can hire a 4×4 pushchair for this tour. Find out more about the routes here.
Les Randos de Valby in Valberg
A great mascot to motivate children: that’s the idea behind the Valberg resort in the Southern Alps, which offers “Les Randos de Valby”, fun hikes in the heart of nature. In winter, there are 4 snowshoe walks at 3 different levels, a wide choice to suit the age of your children.
On these routes, children have a challenge to take up in the footsteps of Valby. The aim is to get their photo taken in the same place and in the same position as the mascot, using the images in the snowshoe walk booklet (available from Valberg Tourist Office). Once you’ve finished your snowshoe walk, go back to the Office to get your booklet stamped, and you’ve got a challenge (and a reward)! For full details, click here.
The elf snowshoe walk in Gérardmer
Head for the Vosges, and more specifically Gérardmer, for a snowshoe walk organised for children aged 3 and over and their families. The “Balade des Lutins” is designed entirely for the little ones, with walks at their own pace to help them discover the mountains in winter through play and imagination.
Departure at 1.30pm, for a 2-hour walk accompanied by a mountain guide who will show the little ones the beauty of the snow-covered mountain landscapes. A magical way to enjoy nature! Information and booking (weather and snow permitting) here.
The Tibou route adventure game in Super Besse
In Super Besse, Auvergne, children aged 5 and over can set off on the TIBOU trail. All along the 1km walk, the TIBOU adventure game consists of solving little riddles on the signs that line the route. To follow all the stages, the game bulletin is available free of charge in the Tibou Mag at the resort’s Tourist Office.
A fun and friendly way to discover the snow-covered landscapes of the Massif Central. And if the little ones are still dragging their feet (or snowshoes), you can pull them along in a toboggan. Prices, routes and practical information here.
An unforgettable night-time experience in Combloux
With slightly older children, a magical walk awaits the whole family in Combloux, Haute-Savoie. The mountain guide office is organising a night-time snowshoeing outing, with a 1-hour headlamp-lit walk through the snowy calm. The ultimate reward? A delicious dish typical of the mountains awaits you on arrival at the refuge! And on the way back, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view of the stars, the perfect way to settle your stomach.
To take part, meet in front of the Tourist Office for a welcome drink before setting off on your family adventure. All in all, it’s a 2-hour walk there and back, and all equipment is provided at the start. So, are you tempted? Find out more here.
