Club activities

Do you want to ski competitively? Or simply want to improve in your favourite discipline? The clubs of the Fédération Française de Ski (French Ski Federation) offer you the chance to practise all the ski disciplines and benefit from the appropriate coaching.

Whatever your level or interests, the FFS is open to everyone. Find out more about how it works and the advantages of joining one of its clubs!

What is the FFS?

The French Ski Federation (FFS) is a French association founded in 1924. It brings together all French ski clubs and organises competitions throughout the country. One of the FFS’s missions is to promote and develop skiing in all its forms. In particular, it is responsible for organising various sporting competitions at all levels and awarding various titles (departmental, regional and national).

All skiing disciplines are represented: alpine skiing, ski touring, speed skiing, telemark skiing, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping, rollerskiing, cross-country skiing and biathlon.

To join an FFS club and take part in its activities, you need a Carte Neige sports licence.

You thought that to join a ski club, you either had to be a very good skier or live in the mountains… Absolutely not! Clubs are for everyone, anyone who needs them and anyone who wants them. There are many (good) reasons to join a ski club, if not just to enjoy yourself:

The FFS is open to all levels, all ages and all types of skiing.

It’s an effective way of developing your skiing skills and progressing with specially trained instructors.

The FFS offers a wide range of disciplines.

The Federation wants to satisfy every desire. It’s an opportunity to try out new activities or go further in the sports you practice.

The FFS organises “all-inclusive” outings

This is the ideal package, so you don’t have to worry about a thing and just enjoy the good times on the slopes. Transport, ski pass and supervision are provided by your club.

The FFS is alive and kicking all year round.

A wide variety of sporting activities are available in our clubs, so you can enjoy them all year round.

How do I join a club?

To join an FFS club, there are 2 simple steps to follow:

Find your club

You’ve decided to join a ski club and now you want to register. Nothing could be simpler. You just need to find the club that suits your needs. To do this, ask yourself the following questions:

  • What discipline do I want to do? Alpine skiing, biathlon, ski jumping, etc.
  • In which region do I want to practise my discipline?
  • What kind of supervision do I need? Am I here for leisure or competition?

Then all you have to do is visit the French Ski Federation website to find the club that matches your criteria.

Obtaining your licence

To take part in club activities, you need a Carte Neige licence. A licence is valid for 1 year, from 15 October each year until 14 October of the following year. It is compulsory to be able to take part in the activities and associative life of the FFS clubs.

There are 3 types of licence depending on what you want:

  • Carte Neige Loisir Licence: Accessible whatever your level, this allows you to take part in “leisure” outings organised by the clubs.
  • Carte Neige Compétiteur Licence : This allows you to enter the world of competition, whatever your level, and to test yourself against other competitors. It’s a great way to progress and experience the unique sensations of competition.
  • Carte Neige Dirigeant licence : For those who volunteer and run FFS clubs.

The price depends on the licence you choose and the insurance you wish to take out. You can buy your licence directly from the FFS website. Get your Carte Neige Licence now!
